Paper bags are a way to protect the environment and are an alternative to plastic bags. In addition to being recyclable, paper bags can also be reused, which is why many people switch to paper bags. They are also easy to dispose of and completely eco-friendly. Plastic bags take years to decompose, while paper bags degrade easily, reducing the amount of pollutants in the soil.
Every year on 12th July, we celebrate World Paper Bag Day to spread awareness about paper bags. In 1852, on a day when people were encouraged to shop in paper bags and collect recyclables like plastic bottles and newspapers, Francis Wolle of Pennsylvania built a machine that made paper bags. Since then, the paper bag has started a wonderful journey. It suddenly became popular as people started using it a lot.
However, the contribution of paper bags in commerce and commerce is gradually limited due to industrialization and improvements in plastic packaging options, which offer greater durability, strength, and ability to protect products, especially food, from the external environment- — Increase the shelf life of the product. In fact, plastic has dominated the global packaging industry for the past 5 to 6 years. During this time, the world has witnessed the adverse impact of non-biodegradable plastic packaging waste on the global environment. Plastic bottles and food packaging are crowding the oceans, marine and terrestrial animal spices are starting to die from plastic deposits in their digestive systems, and plastic deposits in soil are causing soil fertility to decline.
It took us a long time to realize the mistake of using plastic. On the verge of choking the planet with pollution, we’re back on paper for help. Many of us are still hesitant to use paper bags, but if we want to save the planet from plastic, we must be aware of the harmful effects of plastic and stop using it wherever possible.
“We don’t have the right to kick paper out, but we do have the right to welcome it back”.
